How do I remove a half burned candle from a votive holder?
Mu aunt gave my a bunch of votive candle holders with half burned candles in them. I want to put new candles in them for my wedding, how the heck do I get the half burned ones out? I tried the freezer. It didn’t work.
Go along the edge with a butter knife to get the big pieces out, then soak the rest of it over night.

Run it underhot water then dry to remove. Then spray some WD-40 to remove excess wax before washing.

Put it in hot water up to edges of glass for 5 minutes and lift the candle out gently from the sides with a butter knife.

Try setting the candleholders in a pan of hot water for a few minutes. Then pry the wax out with a fork or knife. Be careful not to stab yourself.

Put the votives in a cake pan or in the bottom of a plugged sink. Pour hot water into the pan (but not into the votives). let them sit for a few minutes. When the water is cool enough for you to put your hand in it, remove one of the votives. Use a table knife to loosen the wax and scrape it into the trash.
Continue with the rest of the votives.
I recommend using a sink instead of a pan so you can just let it drain out when you’re finished. Also, heat the water in the microwave or in a kettle so you don’t waste water by letting it run to get hot.

I would put the candles in hot water as the others suggested. When you put the new candles in the votives, pour just a little bit of water. This will make it easier to remove the candles after the wedding. Good luck on your wedding. If you need to purchase other items feel free to visit our website.
